What We’re Looking For
The Baylor Department of Public Health is seeking a postdoctoral fellow. The Baylor Department of Public Health is housed within the Robbins College of Health and Human Sciences, an interdisciplinary environment to translate theory into practice through translational research and advance knowledge of health, human behavior, and quality of life. The Department of Public Health supports local and global public health research and practice, with a specific focus on behavioral health research and chronic disease prevention.
The successful applicant must hold a Ph.D. degree in a Epidemiology or a Public Health-Related discipline (awarded by May 31, 2023). One year of relevant research experience, and an active Christian faith are required. A doctoral degree and five years of relevant work experience are preferred. What You Will Do
Dr. Kelly Ylitalo (https://www.baylor.edu/chhs/index.php?id=940468), Associate Professor of Epidemiology, is currently seeking applications for a postdoctoral fellowship focused on epidemiology and behavioral health research. The job will entail data analysis, literature review, manuscript preparation, assisting with grant applications, and project management. The fellowship will provide opportunities for working with internal and external partners including scientists, health care providers, and community advocates. Projects include both traditional epidemiologic research and implementation science projects, including NIH-funded community-engaged research in collaboration with a Federally Qualified Health Center related to physical activity, healthy eating, and disability/aging. Required qualifications include a PhD in epidemiology or public health. Proficiency in SAS programming is required. The ideal candidate will have training and experience in epidemiologic and quantitative methods; proficiency in generalized linear models, linear mixed models, and latent class analyses; excellent scientific writing ability; strong oral communication and time management skills; compassion for underserved populations; and the ability to work effectively and collegially with groups.
The position is for January 1, 2023 through May 31, 2024. Start date is negotiable.
